The Lehman College women’s basketball team took break from its pre-season practices to participate in the American Cancer Society’s Strides Against Breast Cancer walk on Sunday morning at Orchard Beach Park. Registration began at 9:00am, and the walk started at 10:30am. The walk was one of many which were held throughout the country to fight against breast cancer. Members of Lehman's cross country and cheerleading teams also participated in the walk.

Student-athletes from Lehman College's women’s basketball, cross country, and cheerleading teams, as well as coaches from all of those programs, walked the 3.2 miles of the beach course. The walk enables the American Cancer Society to fund groundbreaking breast cancer research, provide up-to-date cancer prevention and early detection information, help ensure that all women have access to mammograms and follow-up care, and provide free programs and services that improve the quality of life for people facing breast cancer.
