The Lehman College men’s tennis team (1-7 Overall, 1-5 CUNYAC) dropped a CUNYAC match to the Bearcats of Baruch College on Saturday afternoon, falling by a score of 8-1 at the APEX Tennis Courts in the Bronx. The loss was the fifth straight defeat for the Lightning.
The Bearcats dominated doubles play, capturing all three doubles sets. At No. 1, it was Baruch’s combination of Andrew Smith and Damon Ye turning back Lehman’s duo of Miguel Carela and Shiva Devarinti by a score of 8-2. The Bearcats’ Aliaksei Misitau and Tadas Valiukenas defeated the Lightning’s David Chang and Dean Garcia 8-2 at No. 2 doubles, and finally at No. 3 it was Baruch’s team of Mikheil Sumbatashvili and Paul Medvinsky silencing Lehman’s pair of Marcos Coto-Batres and Joseph Veras by a score of 8-2.
