The City University of New York Athletic Conference announced its men's and women's swimming and diving award winners for the week of November 30th-December 6th, and Lehman College men's swimmer Chris Mammano earned Rookie of the Week honors for his tremendous performance against SUNY Maritime on December 3rd.
Mammano, a freshman out of Archbishop Molloy High School, earned the praise by putting forth a season-best time of 12:11.01 in the Men's 1000-yard freestyle event against the Privateers of SUNY Maritime. In addition, the standout took gold in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:04.38, and then placed fourth in the 500- free with a time of 6:18.66. Lehman College men's swimming and diving head coach Peter Kiernan praised Mammano after learning that the standout received Rookie of the Week honors.
“Chris is a hard worker and a great competitor,” Kiernan said. “He is really coming along and as he continues to get into shape, he is really going to be an asset for this team moving forward. I'm proud of what he's accomplished so far and I'm looking forward to seeing him continue to progress.”
Lehman will host the US Merchant Marine Academy on Tuesday evening at 7:00pm at the APEX Aquatics Center before taking the next few weeks off for finals and the holidays.
