This past Saturday, Lehman College standout Pete Charles competed at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships in Terre Haute, Indiana, and the CUNYAC indoor track and field Athlete of the Year reached All-American status in the triple jump event, finishing sixth with a leap of 14.35m.
“Pete Charles has been a model of consistency for our track and field program for many years,” said CUNYAC Coach of the Year and Lehman skipper Lesleigh Hogg. “He has showed true character over the years, as he's had an uncanny ability to perform at his best when the stakes are highest. I'm proud of him and he's earned his status as a true winner.”
The latest accolade wraps up a tremendous month for Charles. Two weeks earlier, he helped the Lehman College indoor track and field team win its second consecutive CUNYAC championship by being named the Most Valuable Performer for the evening. Now, this past weekend, he added another sensational honor to his career resume by becoming an All-American once again.
“I've worked extremely hard to be the best that I can,” Charles said. “I am happy to represent my team and Lehman College in a good manner. Competing at Nationals is always a terrific experience, and it's something that I'll always cherish.”
