The Lehman College women's indoor track and field team returned to action on Friday evening as the team competed in the Great Dane Classic at the Armory Track and Field Center in upper Manhattan. Two members of the squad in particular, Dorothy Jean-Pierre and Jillene Sennon, put forth tremendous ECAC-qualifying performances.
Lehman's Dorothy-Jean Pierre, who has been a staple of the women's track and field and cross country programs over the past four years, qualified for ECAC's in the women's 1000 meter run as she completed that event in a time of 3:09.43.
In addition to Pierre's impressive time in the 1000 meter run, Jillene Sennon also put together a memorable performance in the 55 meter yard dash as she qualified for ECAC's by completing that event in a time of 7.43. Following the performances by his two standout athletes, head coach Lesleigh Hogg gave his thoughts.
“Dorothy and Jillene have always been two of the hardest-working student-athletes that I have had the opportunity to coach,” Hogg said. “Not only do they work hard and do a great job in their sports of choice, but they also serve as good examples for the rest of their teammates. It was good to see both of them qualify for ECAC's this evening, and hopefully they will keep the good efforts coming.”
