MEMBERS OF THE INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD SQUADS SET TO COMPETE AT ECAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

Following their hearty efforts at the CUNYAC championship meet this past Sunday evening, members of the Lehman College men's and women's indoor track and field teams will get a chance to showcase their tremendous talents by competing at the ECAC Championships this weekend (Friday and Saturday) at Smith College in Massachusetts.

For the Lehman College women's team, four members of the squad will be competing, including Simonie Moore, as she will participate in the 55 meter dash as well as serve on the 4x400 relay team. Dorothy Jean-Pierre, who medaled in the 1500 at CUNY's, will compete in the 1000, and Jillene Sennon will compete in the 55 meter and 200 meter dash events while serving as an anchor on the 4x400 relay squad. Finally, it'll be Caroline Chung running a leg on the 4x400 relay as well. Lehman College head coach Lesleigh Hogg is excited about the possibilities for his ladies this weekend.

“We have four girls competing at ECAC's this weekend that have worked diligently this year to be the best that they can be, and I'm looking forward to seeing them push themselves to be the best that they can be once again,” said Hogg.

On the men's side, the Lightning will see two student-athletes compete, including standout Phillip Akogu, who was named the Most Valuable Performer at the CUNYAC championships. This weekend, he'll compete in the Pentathlon competition. Andre Gouldbourne will participate in the 55 meter and 200 meter dash events.

“Philip and Andre – like the four aforementioned ladies – will head into this weekend with a lot of momentum. These two gentlemen were a big reason why we came very close to winning another conference championship, and they're both looking forward to the weekend.”
