The Lehman College outdoor track and field teams began their 2010 seasons this past Saturday as both units competed in the Richard Stockton Invitational in Pomona, New Jersey.
The highlight performer for the Lightning women was veteran Jillene Sennon as he got her season off to a fast start. She won the women's 100 meter dash by completing the event with a time of 12.39, and she also took second place in the 200 meter dash by completing that event in 25.91. She also ran a leg on Lehman's “A” relay team in the 4x400 meter relay – and that unit finished third in that event with a time of 4:14.61.
Simonie Moore also performed well as she finished in second place in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.76, and Michaelle Garcon put forth a strong effort in the 1500 meter run, completing that event in a time of 5:14.86. Lightning veteran Janina Browne competed in the hammer throw event and placed fourth in that with a toss of 36.17 meters.
Lehman's “A” relay unit of Sennon, Moore, Caroline Chung and Dorothy Jean-Pierre finished in third place in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:14.61
On the men's side for the Lightning, Philip Akogu finished in fourth place in the men's 110 meter hurdle by finishing that event with a score of 17.33. Juan Wagner finished in 12th place in the javelin throw event with a toss of 43.45 meters.
