The Lehman College outdoor track and field teams competed in the Ramapo College Invitational this past Saturday afternoon, as both teams continued to sharpen their skills for the upcoming CUNYAC championships, which take place in less than a month's time. At the Ramapo invite, it was the Lightning women finishing in fourth place as a team (61 points) out of 10 participating schools, while the Lehman men came in ninth place as a unit (16 points) out of nine schools at competed.
An outstanding performance on the women's side included the tremendous effort of Michaelle Garcon, as she continued to lead by example this season, finishing in second place in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:19.65 while also winning the 5000 meter run by clocking in at 20:54.40.
Janina Browne, who has been a staple of the Lehman College cross country and track and field programs for quite some time now, put forth a terrific performance in the hammer throw as she finished third in that event with a toss of 40.23 meters. The throw was a personal best for the senior.
On the men's side, the Lightning did have one standout effort – and that was the performance of Andre Gouldbourne who is having a tremendous season for his unit – and he finished in second place in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.21, and he also came in fourth place in the 200 meter dash by crossing the finish line at 22.83.
The Lehman College indoor track and field teams will continue their seasons this Friday as the teams head to Glassboro, New Jersey to participate in the Rowan University Open. Keep it posted to www.lehmanathletics.com for all the latest developments and results as it pertains to that event.
