The Lehman College athletic department released its women's volleyball and women's tennis schedules earlier this week. Both schedules are now available on the teams' respective pages.
The Lehman College athletic season will kick off on September 4, when the women's tennis team welcomes the College of Mount St. Vincent Dolphins to the APEX Tennis Courts for a non-conference match. The Lightning will then play two more home non-conference matches against the College of St. Elizabeth's (September 6) and Rutgers-Newark (September 9) before beginning CUNY action against the Hunter College Hawks in the Bronx on September 11.
The women's tennis team will play a majority of its regular season schedule at the APEX Tennis Courts, as 12 of their 18 matches will be played on their home campus. Intriguing conference tussles in the Bronx include a battle with the Dolphins of the College of Staten Island on September 30, and a meeting with the John Jay College Bloodhounds on October 14. The Bearcats, who eliminated the Lightning in the first round of the CUNYAC tournament a season ago, will host Lehman on October 3.
The women's volleyball team will look to build on the season it had last year when it put forth a 5-4 conference mark and advanced to the CUNYAC playoffs when the squad opens the season at the APEX Center on September 9 by battling non-conference opponent Yeshiva University. Four days later, Lehman will jump right into conference competition, battling both Brooklyn College and Staten Island as part of a CUNY multi-match that will be held at the APEX Center. The Lightning will play 15 of their 24 matches at the home this season after competing in just three home matches in all of 2007.
Other notable conference contests on Lehman's schedule include a meeting with Baruch College at the Bearcats' ARC Arena on October 13 and a battle with John Jay College at the APEX Center in the season finale on October 28.
