The Lehman College women's basketball team (3-6 Overall, 2-0 CUNYAC) picked up a non-conference victory on Monday evening, defeating the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph's College of Long Island (3-4 Overall) by a score of 57-55 in overtime in Patchogue, NY.
In the victory for the Lightning, Lehman College was led by a strong performance from freshman standout Tiana Rosa who posted a double-double, netting 10 points (5-12 FG) while recording game-highs in rebounds with 19 and blocks with four. Also, it was Dorothy Hunte netting 14 points (6-15 FG) to go along with nine rebounds. Finally, it was Barbara Febus contributing with 11 points (4-5 FG) to go along with three rebounds. Following the game, Head Coach Eric Harrison gave his thoughts.
“This was our second straight overtime contest, so it was great to see our hard work pay off and to see us come out on the winning side this time,” Harrison said. “Our schedule is filled with many tests, and I feel this was one that we passed. We have another tough game coming up on Thursday against William Paterson University, so we'll enjoy this victory tonight and get ready for the Pioneers.”
Despite the loss for the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph's College of Long Island, Trish McMahon netted a game-high 21 points to go along with 11 rebounds and three steals, and Dana Carney posted a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Finally, it was Nicole Redding adding eight points, seven rebounds, and a pair of assists.
The Lightning return to action Thursday evening as Lehman hosts William Paterson University in a non-conference contest, with game-time at the APEX Center scheduled for 6:00pm.
