WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SET TO BATTLE NO. 15 WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY AT APEX

The Lehman College women's basketball team will be returning to action on Thursday evening, December 17th, as the Lightning will welcome the Pioneers of William Paterson University to the APEX Center for a non-conference contest, with game-time scheduled for 6:00pm. The clash promises to serve as a great test for a Lightning squad eager to get on a roll this season. William Paterson University is ranked No. 15 in the nation according to a D3Hoops.com poll.

The Lightning are coming off of a 57-55 overtime victory over the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph's College of Long Island and Lehman will hope to extend its winning streak to two games as the Pioneers march into the APEX Center. William Paterson – currently 9-0 on the young season – is led by junior April Smith who is averaging 17.2 points per game while also snatching seven rebounds per game. Her eight blocked shots is also tied for the team lead. In addition, senior Julie Haledjian average 12.7 points per game, and sophomore BriAnna Lucas is dropping in 12.6 points per game. Stopping that trio will be a difficult task for Head Coach Eric Harrison and his Lightning.

William Paterson University has had a terrific season so far, and to have a chance to play them following a big victory on Monday will certainly keep us on our toes,” Harrison said. “They have a lot of good players over there and it will certainly be very interesting to see how we come out against them.”

Following the game against the Pioneers, Lehman will have 12 days off before traveling to Amherst, Massachusetts to battle the No. 2 ranked Amherst College Lord Jeff's in a non-conference contest on December 30th.
