Gannon took over the reigns of the softball program on December 29, 2015.
Gannon is well-known to the Lehman athletics community, having previously served as an assistant coach with the softball program in 2003 and 2004, and prior to that working with the women's basketball program from 1997 to 1999. He attended Lehman College in the mid-90s where he was a standout with the 1996 baseball team that won the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship. He earned all-conference honors in 1997 and 1998, playing as team captain and making ECAC honorable mention.
In his first season (2016) the Lightning, he guided the squad to a 10-19 overall record while going 4-8 in conference play. The Lighting won their first round play-off game in an extra inning thriller over John Jay.
Gannon also serves with the New York Police Department, where he has been a police officer since 1999 and a police sergeant since 2011. Gannon has received multiple citations of merit during his law enforcement career. Gannon graduated from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in 2011 with a bachelor of science in criminal justice. He will begin attending SUNY Cortland later this year to earn his Master's Degree in Sports Administration.
Gannon lives in the Bronx and has two daughters, Alyssa and Emma.
