Freddy Sanchez entered Lehman College in the Fall of 1996 after two years at Park East High School.  Four years later, he graduated with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Computer Science.

During college, he was a member of the swimming, diving, water polo, cross country and tennis teams. He served as captain of the men’s swimming and diving team and as the co-captain of the men’s water polo team.

Throughout the years, Freddy broke many school records, some of which are still current.  He broke the 100 and 200 Backstroke, the 200 and 400 Individual Medley, as a member of the 200 and 400 Freestyle Relay and the 200 Medley Relay.

As a swimmer, he has participated and won medals in the USS Senior Metropolitan Championships, Empire State Games, and The Dominican Games.

As a freshman at Lehman he won a second place silver medal, and a third place bronze medal in the 100 and 200 Backstroke respectively.

After graduation he returned to Lehman College in 2004 to begin studies for his Masters Degree in Recreation Parks Administration.  Freddy has been an assistant coach and mentor for the men’s and women’s varsity swim team at Lehman College since 2001, and has also served in that capacity for the APEX Swim Club.  He is also an event coordinator for the many aquatics events held at APEX, assisting with the Timing System and Computer Operation of the swim meets.

Besides his coaching career, he has worked as a head lifeguard, substitute teacher with the NYC Board of Education, and also as an instructor for Lehman’s Continuing Education Learn-to-Swim Program.

His stated goals are to continue to help students excel in their athletic pursuits by teaching proper swim mechanics and techniques and to aide in enhancing the loyalty and motivation of all the Lehman College swimmers.
