The Lehman College men's tennis team (1-6 Overall, 1-4 CUNYAC) dropped a CUNYAC match on Tuesday afternoon, falling to the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College (4-4 Overall, 2-3 CUNYAC) by a score of 9-0.
The Bulldogs jumped out to an early 3-0 advantage, capturing all three doubles sets. At No. 1 doubles, it was Brooklyn's combination of Johnny Rolando and Anthony Chan turning back Lehman College's Shiva Devarinti and Miguel Carela by a score of 8-6. The Bulldogs' Vesna Tan and Matthew Micharlsen outlasted Lehman's David Chang and Marcos Coto-Batres by a score of 9-7 at No. 2 doubles, and finally at No. 3, it was Jeffrey Deng and Anthony Sideris defeating Lehman's Larry Harvey and Joseph Veras 8-1.
Brooklyn College would continue to roll in singles action as Rolando, Chan, Micharlsen and Deng all took home victories in the No. 1, 2, 3 and 6 singles sets, respectively. Tan recorded a hard-fought victory at No. 4 singles, outlasting Carela 7-6 (7-2), 6-3. Perhaps the best match the afternoon was at No. 5 singles, as junior Kristoffer Flores outdueled Veras in three sets, 4-6, 7-6 (9-7), 6-4.
The Lightning will return to action on Saturday afternoon as Lehman College will welcome to the Bearcats of Baruch College to the APEX Tennis Courts for a conference match, with start-time scheduled for 11:00am.
