The Lehman men's tennis team stopped its three game losing streak on Wednesday afternoon, defeating visiting New York City College of Technology in dominating fashion, 9-0, to improve to 3-7 (3-5 CUNYAC) on the season.
Lehman's only true test on the day came in No. 2 doubles where
Philip Akogu and
Marcos Coto-Batres dispatched of Michael Barnes and Daniel Enadeghe in a close match, 8-5. In No. 1 doubles,
Raul Santana teamed with freshman
Cesar Andrade to defeat Joshua Perdomo and Jiaqi Guan, 8-1, while
Rabiedra Hansraj and
Ali Saleh blitzed Iam Mitchell and Daryl Huggins in No. 3 doubles, 8-0.
The Lightning faced little resistance in singles action as well as Santana (No. 1), Akogu (No. 3), Hansraj (No. 5) and Saleh (No. 6) each only surrendered a single game in their respective matches. In No. 2 singles, Andrade took the first set against Barnes, 6-0, before closing out the match, 6-3, in the second set. Similarly, Coto-Batres cruised through the first set in his No. 4 encounter with Enadeghe, winning 6-0, and then met mild resistance before closing out the 6-4 second set win.
The Lightning is back on the APEX courts Saturday afternoon for a non-conference match with visiting St. Joseph's College (LI) at 12 p.m.
