The Lehman men's 2011 tennis season came to quick halt on Saturday afternoon at York College, where No. 3 seeded Hunter College defeated the No. 6 seeded Lightning 5-0 in the quarterfinal round of CUNYAC/HSS Championships.
As per CUNYAC Championship rules, despite nine scheduled matches, the contest was halted once Hunter attained five match victories.
In doubles action, Hunter's No. 1 team of Luis Quintero and Yevgeny Perepelov toppled
Raul Santana and
Michael Tal 8-1. Roy Forsberg and Arthur Kapetanakis, the Hawk's No. 2 pairing, took care of Jahi Abasi-Jabbar and
Cesar Andrade, 8-4, while Thomas Lin and Mark Goldfinger topped
Philip Akogu and
Marcos Coto-Batres 8-3 in No. 3 action.
To complete its match victory, Hunter claimed No. 2 and No. 6 singles with Quintero downing Tal 6-1, 6-1, and Gold handling Coto-Batres 6-0, 6-0, respectively.
Lehman's loss completes a 4-8 season, 3-5 in conference play.
