Tennis Falls to 0-3 With Loss to SUNY Purchase

BRONX, N.Y. - The Lehman men's tennis team will continue to look for its first win of the season after dropping its third straight, 9-0, to visiting SUNY Purchase on Wednesday afternoon on the APEX tennis courts.

With the win the Panthers improved to 5-1 on the season.

The Lightning played close in doubles action to start the match as its No. 1 team of Michael Tal and Philip Akogu lost 8-5 to their Panthers counterparts, Jeremyah Schur and Maxim Luiggi, and the No. 2 team of Cesar Andrade and Marcos Coto-Batres lost ot Ben Ekis and Simon Lai.  Alex Linde and Ben Cirilo, playing No. 3 doubles, fell 8-2 to Roger King and Michael Sorge.

In singles action Akogu took the most games from his No. 2 opponent, dropping a straight sets match to King 6-4, 6-1.  Playing No. 1 singles, Tal was upended by Schur 6-2, 6-2.

Losing by identical 6-1, 6-1 scores to their opponents were Andrade (No. 3) and Coto-Batres (No. 4).

Purchase's No. 5, Ekis, blanked Linde 6-0, 6-0 and Lai took care of Francisco 8-2 in No. 6 action.
