Win No. 2 Comes Against York For Men's Tennis

JAMAICA, N.Y. - The Lehman men's tennis team earned a 7-2 victory on Tuesday afternoon against conference opponent York College, but not before sweating out the the final results of several matches.

Singles action proved to be the home of the day's drama as No. 1, 5 and 6 singles each went the maximum three sets.

In No. 1 action Michael Tal upended Ayman Busat 6-2, 2-6, 7-5.  Tal also teamed with Cesar Andrade to capture No. 1 doubles 8-4.  Leonardo de Oliveira stopped Kevon Brown 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 in No. 6 action.

In search of his second win this season, Andres Restrepo was involved in the heartstopper at No. 5 singles.  Lehman's newcomer to tennis dropped the first set to Justin Mo before battling back to take the next two 6-4, 7-6 (9-7). 

Other singles action included Andrade besting Erick Giron 6-2, 7-5 in No. 2 and Ben Cirilo topping Timoteo Baltazar 6-2, 6-3 in No. 4 play.  Philip Akogu was a 6-2, 6-3 loser to Iheanyi Agbor.

The remainder of doubles featured Akogu and Cirilo combining forces to beat Giron and Mo, 8-2, and Restrepo and de Oliveira falling to Phillips and Brown 8-6.

Lehman now stands at 2-3 in the conference and 2-7 overall.

Non-conference foe St. Joseph's (BK) travels to the Bronx on Thursday for an afternoon match.
