Box Score

BRONX, N.Y. - In what has so far been a challenging season, the Lehman tennis team won its second consecutive match on Friday afternoon, defeating visiting St. Joseph's College 8-1 to improve its overall record to 3-7.

It was one of Lehman's best performance this season as the only point registered by the Bears came with Lehman defaulting No. 3 doubles.

The Lightning made straight sets work of the Bears in all six singles matches and surrendered only one game to St. Joseph's in doubles action.

The trio of Philip Akogu, Ben Cirilo, and Leonardo de Oliveira, playing No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 singles, respectively, handled their opponents in identical fashion, winning 6-1, 6-1.

Michael Tal outdueled Muhammad Ali Bhatti in No. 1 play by the scores of 6-3, 6-1, while Cesar Andrade made quick work of Martin Torres to win 6-1, 6-0.

Andres Restrepo earned his third victory of the season by topping Jan Rogowski 6-3, 6-3.

In doubles Tal and Andrade combined to win 8-1 in No. 1 play and Cirilo and Restrepo blanked Javier Bosque and James Hanophy, 8-0.

Sitting at 2-3 in the conference, Lehman will play the first of back-to-back CUNYAC matches on Saturday afternoon as the Dolphins of the College of Staten Island come to the Bronx.
