Bearcats Dispatch of Lightning 9-0 in Men's Tennis

BRONX, N.Y. - On paper the Lightning men's tennis team was facing an incredible challenge by welcoming the Baruch Bearcats to the APEX tennis courts on Friday afternoon.

True to form, that's how it played out as Baruch blanked Lehman 9-0 to improve to 10-1 on the season. Lehman fell to 1-7.

The Lightning managed to take only three games from the Bearcats in singles action and put up their biggest fight in No. 1 doubles where Michael Tal and Cesare Andrade hung with Artem Gorbachevskiy and Guy Goren before losing 8-4.

Philip Akogu, Ben Cirilo, Andres Restrepo and Leonardo de Oliveira were unable to manage any victories against their Baruch opponents.

Similarly in doubles action, the No. 2 team of Akogu and Cirilo and the No. 3 team of Restrepo and de Oliveira were served donuts with each falling 8-0.

The men are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Queens to battle York College.
