Five Players Score in Double Figures as Women's Basketball Cruises Past Medgar Evers

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's basketball team scored the first seven points of the game at Medgar Evers College on Wednesday night, then cruised to a 98-37 victory. With the win, the Lightning complete the season sweep of the host Cougars.

Five different Lehman (12-6, 6-3 CUNYAC) players reached double figures in scoring, led by freshman Genesis Liberato (Santo Domingo, D.R./Liceo Ramon Matias Mella), who had 22. Reigning CUNYAC Rookie of the Week Amely Del Rosario (Bronx, N.Y./John F. Kennedy) added 20 points, with sophomore Jennifer Navarro (Jamaica, N.Y./Grover Cleveland) adding 18. Sophomore Amani Lightbourne (Elmsford, N.Y./Alexander Hamilton) contributed 15, while junior Shalaya Nieves (Camden, Del./Caesar Rodney) added 12.

Lightbourne led Lehman in rebounding, with 11, while Sophomore Luisayra Madrigal (Bronx, N.Y./Msgr. Scanlan) grabbed 10 caroms.

Up next, the Lightning will travel to Hunter College on Friday, January 24.
