FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's tennis team earned its first victory of the season by defeating St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn, 8-1, at the USTA National Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.
Leading the way for the Lightning was freshman
CarloJay Maghirang (Nyack, N.Y./N.Y.) who earned victories at #1 singles and at #1 doubles. He won his singles match 6-3 and 7-6 (8-6). He teamed with junior
Gene Nakagaki (Scarsdale, N.Y./Eastchester) to win the #1 doubles match, 8-2. Nakagaki dominated his #2 singles match, winning 6-1 and 6-0.

Al Joseph Dubouzet (Bronx, N.Y./All Hallows) (#3), sophomore
Frankelly Ortiz (Bronx, N.Y./Lehman H.S.) (#4), and classmate
Elvis Mejia (New York, N.Y./Louis D. Brandeis) (#5) each recorded singles wins of their own.
Dubouzet and Ortiz won at #2 doubles, 8-2, while Mejia and freshman
Rodolfo Lopez (Bronx, N.Y./H.S. for Health Professions) were victorious at #3 doubles by the same score.
Lehman will travel to Kings Point, N.Y. to take on the United States Merchant Marine Academy, on Tuesday. The match is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
