Krystal Pearson Interview

New York, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's basketball team used an early run in the first half and never looked back, as they defeated CUNYAC foe John Jay College, 84-45, Saturday afternoon at the Doghouse.

The win helps the Lightning (3-2) move a game over .500 and improve their conference record to 2-0 early on.

Shakia Artist netted 17 points (six-for-13 FG, five-for-six free throws) with 17 boards and 11 blocks to secure a triple-double, while Amely Del Rosario led the team with a high score of 29 points along with four rebounds. Krystal Pearson chipped in with 21 points to go with 16 boards, seven blocks and six assists, while Lynda Fields contributed 15 points.

"Today was a good day," remarked Lehman head coach Eric Harrison. "Anytime you can get production from the entire roster, positive things are going to come. Shakia and Krystal did a great job leading the charge, hopefully we can keep building from there."

In a losing effort, the Bloodhounds (0-6) got a team-best 19 points to go with 11 rebounds from Shaliyah Ruiz, while Uju Nwaigwe fell a board short of a double-double (10 points, nine rebounds).

Lehman will seek their third straight conference win when they head to Brooklyn to face Brooklyn College Tuesday night as part of a doubleheader with the men's team. Start time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
