BROOKLYN, NY --- The Lehman College men's tennis team picked up a key CUNYAC win on Thursday, winning a 9-0 match at Brooklyn College.
With the win, the Lightning of Lehman (5-9 / 3-4 CUNYAC) clinch the fifth seed in the upcoming CUNYAC Championship Tournament, with a tie-breaker over the Bulldogs of Brooklyn (4-7 / 3-4 CUNYAC).
Freshman
Jason Strudwick won at number one singles, 6-1, 6-0. He also teamed with senior
Gene Nakagaki to win a hotly contested bout at number one doubles, 9-8. Nakagaki won 6-1, 6-1 at number two singles.
Junior
Frankelly Ortiz won the toughest singles match of the day, prevailing 3-6, 6-1 (10-5) from the five spot.
It was the first time Lehman had swept a conference match since 2011. The program has enjoyed considerable success under first year head coach

The Lightning have their next scheduled match on Tuesday when they travel to Mount Saint Mary College for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
