The Lehman College men's tennis team is playing at the College of Staten Island on Friday in the quarterfinals of the CUNYAC Championships. Match time is set for 4:00 p.m. Lehman (5-10 / 3-4 CUNYAC) will be playing as the fifth seed in the tournament while the host Dolphins of CSI (6-8 / 4-3 CUNYAC) are the fourth seed.
The Lightning are enjoying their best season in years under first year head coach
Ana Belzunce, improving dramatically from a 1-6 CUNYAC record in 2015 to go 3-4 this year. Freshman
Jason Strudwick (Valhalla, NY/Valhalla) has emerged as a budding star at number one singles, going 8-5 and twice claiming conference Rookie of the Week honors. Senior
Gene Nakagaki (Scarsdale, NY / Eastchester) has gone 9-3 this year, teaming with Strudwick at the top doubles spot and impressing at number two singles.
Earlier this season, the Dolphins edged the Lightning in a 6-3 bout on April 11
th.
