Brooklyn, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's basketball team jumped out of the gate with a strong start and defeated Medgar Evers College, 87-49, in CUNYAC play Friday night at the Cougars Cave.
 
The Lightning team (8-7, 6-2 CUNYAC) has now won five straight games as well as their fourth straight conference victory. They now take full possession of third place and move within a game of Staten Island for second.
 
Amely Del Rosario propelled four players in double figures with a game-high 31 points (four three-pointers) along with seven steals, four blocks and four rebounds. Lynda Fields chipped in with 17 points of her own, while Lisa Fields dished out six assists with 14 points. Ayanna Behagen added 12 points with seven boards and seven steals.  It was Lisa Fields and Behagen's first game as part of the Lightning.

The Cougars (1-14, 1-7 CUNYAC) got a team-best 22 points with 12 rebounds from Elesha Dieudonne in a losing effort. Kimonia Mullings also added a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
 
Lehman controlled the game with their defense, forcing 49 Medgar turnovers with 30 steals in the game and would convert them into 50 total points. They won despite being outrebounded 60-38 in the game, but earned a 22-2 edge on fast break points.
 
Up next for the Lightning is a matchup Wednesday night on the road against CCNY in a CUNYAC showdown as part of a doubleheader. Tip time is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
