Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's soccer team celebrated its Senior Day prior to the regular-season finale with Yeshiva on Monday in the Bronx. Before the game,

Daisy Gomez,
Lillian Barreto and
Estefany Balbuena were honored in their final home appearance. When the game got started, the Lighting struck for seven goals in a 7-2 win.
Barreto opened the scoring at 4:50 as she took a breakaway up the left side and beat the Yeshiva keeper. Less than five minutes later,
Daniela Castro made the score 2-0 as she cleaned up a loose ball in the box with a flick that got past the goalie.
From there, Gabrielle Aboudi made the score 2-1 with a free kick. The next two markers both belonged to Lehman as Barreto put a ball over the top that Val Rojas Alingue finished. At 35:01, another senior, Pamela Sanchez got on the score sheet with a pass to
Susana Tario for a goal. Another Aboudi free kick found the back of the net and cut the deficit to 4-2.
The Lightning got hot and scored a pair of goals within 0:22 of each other. At 41:32, Gomez blasted a free kick into the upper part of the goal from 30 yards out to make the score 5-2. Pamela Sanchez slipped past the defense and brought the game to 6-2 with a goal at 41:54.
Lehman got a second half goal when Castro found
Daisy Gomez in the box. The final score was 7-2. Gomez led the team with a pair of goals. Castro, Barreto and Pamela Sanchez each totaled a goal and an assist.
The Lehman College women's soccer team earned the #3 seed in the upcoming CUNYAC championship. They face John Jay in that game on Wednesday, November 1, at a time and location to be announced.
