Box Score Bronx, N.Y. – In their last matchup before the CUNYAC Championship semifinals, the Lehman College women's basketball team ran out to a big first-quarter lead and didn't look back as they defeated Purchase, 81-34, Thursday night at the APEX Center.
With the win, the Lightning (17-8) close the 2016-17 regular season on a seven-game winning streak and 13 of their last 14 games. They dropped only one decision in the months of January and February to secure the number-two seed in the conference playoffs.
Amely Del Rosario posted a double-double with 21 points, 10 rebounds and four steals in the win.
Krystal Pearson came one board shy of a double-double with 19 points along with nine rebounds and four assists.
Ayanna Behagen scored a career-high 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting, while
Marta Czaplak (10) also scored in double figures.
The Panthers (2-21) were led by April Uhl, who scored a team-best 11 points in a losing effort.
Lehman roared out of the gate, scoring the first 22 points in the game and never relinquished the advantage. They shot 40.3% from the field, and hit on eight three-pointers in the game. The team dominated the scoring inside, outscoring Purchase 38-4 in the paint, while scoring 16 fast break points.
On the defensive end, the Lightning held their opponents to just 10-of-58 shooting in the game, and earned a 57-40 edge on the rebounding front. They forced 24 turnovers, and converted 24 points off those mistakes en route to the win.
This concludes the Lightning's regular season schedule. As the number-two seed in the CUNYAC Championships, they will await the winner of the quarterfinal and play Tuesday night on the campus of CCNY.
