Bronx, NY – The Lehman College men's tennis team earned their first victory of the season as they shutout the York College Cardinals (0-5:0-1) 9-0. With the victory the Lightning improve to 1-2:1-1.
In the doubles competition,
Michael Forte and Jeff Lecitona secured an 8-1 victory at number one as did
Richard Williams and
Won Sik Park at second doubles. In third doubles the Lehman team of
Frankelly Ortiz and Chris Velez prevailed 8-0.
In singles Forte (#1), Williams (#2) and
Adriel Grant (#6) all won at love. Lecitona, playing out of the three spot won 6-1, 7-5. At fifth singles Nikolai Levasoc defeated his opponent 6-0, 6-4. The most competitive match occurred at fourth singles. Park (Lehman) and Ralph Ramos split the first two sets as Ramos took the first set 6-3. However Park rallied in the second to win 6-1. In the tie breaking to determine the winner Park held on for the Lightning sweep winning 10-3.
The Lightning are scheduled to be back in action on Tuesday. Lehman will host Brooklyn at 4:00 PM.
