Bronx, N.Y. – Men's tennis sweeps the College of New Rochelle Blue Angels 9-0 on Friday afternoon on the Apex Tennis Courts, improving to 5-5 overall on the 2017 campaign.
The Lightning started off the match with a sweep in doubles action. Michael Forte and Won Sik Park led the way with an 8-0 victory in first doubles, followed by Frankelly Ortiz and Nikolai Levasov's 8-1 second doubles win, and the tandem of Brian Persuad and Adriel Grant finished up the doubles sweep taking third doubles, 8-3.
The momentum in doubles translated over to the single competition for the Lightning, as men's tennis held the Blue Angels to only 12 total points in singles. Forte set the tone in the singles matches taking first doubles 6-1, 6-0. Richard Williams and Ortiz won their matches 6-0, 6-0 each. Park won third singles 6-1, 6-2. Levasov took the victory in fourth doubles, 6-4, and 6-3. Grant closed out the afternoon with a 6-1, and a victory due to injury.
Men's tennis returns to action tomorrow at home to host the Brooklyn College Bulldogs (4-6, 2-2) at home on the Apex Tennis Courts at 1:30 PM.
