Bronx, N.Y. -- Men's tennis hosted the Rutgers-Camden Raptors on the Apex Tennis courts on Sunday morning, where the Lightning dropped the match 6-3.
The Lightning began the match winning first doubles due to the 8-1 victory from the tandem of
Jason Strudwick, and
Richard Williams. Rutgers-Camden would respond taking second and third doubles, 8-4 each.
Men's tennis built momentum in single competition taking the both first and second singles 6-0, 6-2 and 7-5, 6-0 respectively.
Michael Forte earned the first singles victory, and Williams tallied the victory in second singles. The pair of first and second singles victories tied the match at 3 before the Raptors would eventually grab the next four singles matches. Third singles ended at 6-1, 1-6 and 6-1, then fourth singles finalized at 6-2 and 6-2. Fifth singles concluded at 6-1 and 6-0, followed by sixth singles closed out the Sunday match with a score of 6-1 and 6-1.
The loss prevents men's tennis from making it three consecutive wins, putting the Lightning's overall record to 5-6, while The Rutgers-Camden Raptors also go to 5-6.
The Lightning dive back into action on Tuesday at 4:00 PM on the Apex Tennis Courts to host the Rutgers-Newark Raiders on Senior Night.
