Bronx, N.Y. -- In their final conference matchup of the season, the Lehman College men's tennis team was victorious over Brooklyn College in an 8-1 win Wednesday afternoon at the APEX Tennis Courts.
With the win, the Lightning (6-6) now clinch a home matchup in the CUNYAC tournament quarterfinals against these very same Bulldogs Friday.
In singles competition, Lehman grabbed five of the six matchups.
Michael Forte earned a No.1 singles win at 6-1, 6-4 against Julian Calame-Mars.
Richard Williams won 6-0, 6-2 in No. 2, while
Won Sik Park,
Nikolai Levasov and
Brian Persuad earned straight-set wins in No. 4, 5 and 6 singles respectively.
The team of Forte and
Jeffrey Lecitona topped Calame-Mars and David Zabriskie in No. 1 doubles competition. Williams and Park won No.2 doubles 8-1 and
Frankelly Ortiz and Chris Velez secured a No. 3 doubles win at 8-2.
Lehman will close out their regular season when they take on Rutgers-Newark in a makeup match Thursday afternoon at the APEX Tennis Courts for Senior Day. Start time is set for 4:00 p.m.
