Two Lightning Squads In Action On Saturday

Bronx, N.Y. – Two Lehman College men's athletic teams will be in action on Saturday as tennis squad opens CUNYAC play on the road against John Jay College, while volleyballers travel to College of Mount Saint Vincent for a tri-match against hosts and Medgar Evers College.

Lehman volleyballers (3-13) will compete in a tri-match at Peter Jay Sharp Center in Riverdale, N.Y. when it first meets hosts Dolphins (1-8) at 11 am and then take on Cougars (11-1) at 1 pm.

The head-to-head series, since 2008, is tied at seven victories apiece between Lightning-Dolphins, however Mount St. Vincent has won the last five encounters.  The previous meeting between the two sides took place on February 1, 2017 in Riverdale, with hosts winning 3-1 (26-24, 24-26, 25-22, 25-23).  Setter George Montilla dished out 22 assists with four digs and two kills for Lehman.

Meanwhile, the Medgar is taking on Lehman for the second time this season, after posting a 3-0 win (25-23, 25-14, 26-24) at The APEX Main Gym on March 5th.   Outside hitter Will Eschenbach paced the Lightning with seven kills, and 15 digs.

Elsewhere on Saturday, the Lightning tennis squad (0-2, 0-0 CUNYAC) will head to USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y. to take on the Bloodhounds (0-1, 0-0 CUNYAC) at 1 pm.    

John Jay holds an 11-2 head-to-head record against Lehman since 2008, however, the Lightning have won the last two encounters. 

The previous meeting between the two sides took place on April 14, 2018 with Lehman posting a 7-2 win at The APEX Tennis Courts.  Michael Forte was victorious in first singles and doubles, while Ioannis Vasos won his fifth singles match.
