Esmeralda Santos Valencia paced the hosts Lehman College women's soccer team to a 9-0 victory against Medgar Evers College at South Field on Saturday afternoon. The Lightning improve to a 2-6 record and 1-2 in CUNYAC play, while the Cougars fall to 0-3 mark and 0-3 in conference play.
Valencia opened the scoring with consecutive tallies in the seventh and 12
th minutes, respectively. Forward Ramatoulaye Diallo notched a goal six minutes later for the Lightning, while midfielder
Lexxis Irizarry got on the scoresheet at the 26
th minute-mark.
Coleman had her first of two goals in the 29
th minute, while midfielder
Jackie Gonzalez posted a tally in the 57
th minute of the second half.
After defender
Miriam Bernal made it 6-0 for Lehman in the 59
th minute, Coleman had her second tally of the game seven minutes later.
Defender
Nancy Ordaz Tepanecatl closed out the scoring at the 75
th minute-mark as the Lightning cruised to the victory. Goalkeeper
Josefina Flores also did not need to make a save to post her first collegiate shutout.
Lehman returns to action next Saturday (October 22
nd) when it welcomes Brooklyn College in a CUNYAC encounter at South Field with kickoff set for noon.
