Lightning Tennis Falls to Hunter on Opening Day

Box Score Bronx, NY - The Lehman College Men's Tennis team returned to the APEX tennis courts for the first time in more than 2 years for its 2022 season opener against CUNYAC rival Hunter College. The Lightning fell 9-0.It was the season opener for Hunter asa well. After two seasons lost to the COVID pandemic, there was a feeling of joy amongst the players and fans gathered to witness the first men's tennis played at Lehman since March 11, 2020. Playing a lineup without returning starters Steven Forte and Ioannis Vassos, the projected #2 doubles team of Oscar Garcia and Kenneth Davis acquitted themselves well at the #1 doubles spot. The Lightning duo ultimately fell 8-3 to Hunter's top team. The rest of the matches were well-contested, but the Hawks took the lot in straight sets with the Lightning lineup shifted up two places. Lehman returns to action with a full roster on Friday at Purchase College. First serve is scheduled for 3pm.
