Barbara Meda's hat-trick led the Lehman College women's soccer team to a 9-1 victory against visiting Yeshiva University in a non-conference encounter to conclude the regular season at South Field on Thursday. The Lightning go a 5-7-1 overall record, while the Maccabees dropped to an 0-12 mark.
Prior to the regular season finale, the Lehman athletics department honored the seniors on the women's squad (defenders
Melonie Olivares,
Ana Delia Rodriguez,
Esmeralda Santos Valencia; midfielders
Laura Ramos,
Melanie Siranaula; and forward
Maria Martinez) who played their last game with the Lightning uniform at South Field.
Along with Meda's three tallies, Martinez, Siranaula and forward
Lorena Ramirez scored in the first half for Lehman's 6-0 advantage.
Santos Valencia and forward Ramatoulaye Diallo also got into the scoring sheet for the Lightning in the second half, while midfielder Leeby Levine notched the only goal for the Maccabees via penalty kick with six minutes remaining.
Lehman will now compete at CUNYAC Championship Semifinals on Saturday (October 28th) when they take on the hosts John Jay College at Field #75 in Randall's Island with kickoff set for 3 pm ET.
