Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's tennis team posted its first victory of the season, and ended a six-match overall losing streak going back 2022, after defeating visiting York College-NY, 7-2, in a CUNYAC encounter on Friday at The APEX Tennis Courts. The Lightning improved to a 1-2 record and 1-0 in CUNYAC action, while the Cardinals drop to an 0-3 overall and conference mark.
Lehman took two of the three doubles matches to commence the encounter. The duo of
Christian Agudo/
Richie Magaribi were victorious in first doubles, 8-1, while the team of
Jimmy Evans/
Ray Rodriguez also triumphed (8-1) in second doubles.
The Lightning then claimed five of the remaining matches as Agudo won first singles, 6-0, 6-0, while Magaribi posted victories of 6-2, 6-3, in second singles. Evans and Rodriguez also triumphed in third (6-0, 6-1) and fourth (6-3, 6-1), singles, respectively, while
Chris Mata rounded out the Lehman victory with fifth singles scores of 7-5, 6-0.
The Lightning are back in action next Wednesday (March 29th) when they hosts Bard College in a non-conference match-up at The APEX courts with first service set for 4 pm ET.
