Softball Close Out Season With Three Wins Against York-NY

Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College softball team official closed out its season on Thursday sweeping a three-game non-conference series against York College-NY, who was the home team, at South Field.  The Lightning ended their campaign with an 11-16 overall record, while the Cardinals dropped to a 1-23 mark.

In game one, outfielder Lizbeth Perez went four-for-four with a homer, five runs scored, and six RBI as Lehman posted a 24-9 victory.  Infielder Samantha Nazar scored four times (one-for-three) with two RBI, while outfielder Ileana Calle drove in two runs and crossed home plate three times (one-for-two).  In the mound Kaycee Isley allowed just one hit for York-NY for her first victory of the season.

In the second encounter, infielder Patria Sanchez was two-for-three from the plate with two runs scored and four RBI to lead the Lightning to a 16-4 triumph.  Teammate Andrea Alarcon went four-for-four with two runs scored and two RBI, while Nazar struck out seven batters for the victory on the mound.

In the third match, Perez hit another homer while crossing the plate twice (one-for-four) with four RBI to pace Lehman to a 21-9 win.  Outfielder Nidia Nelson also had a round-tripper as she went two-for-four with two runs scored and three RBI, while Sanchez was three-for-four with three runs scored and three RBI for the Lightning.  Nazar pitched four innings with nine strike outs for her ninth victory of the campaign.
