Jamaica, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's tennis team posted its first victory of the campaign after defeating hosts York College-NY, 5-4, in a CUNYAC encounter on Tuesday. The Lightning go to a 1-9 overall record and 1-4 in CUNYAC action, while the Cardinals drop to an 0-6 mark and 0-5 in conference play.
After losing two of the three doubles matches, Lehman won four of the six singles encounters for the victory that ended an 11-match losing streak, going back to 2023 season.
Christian Agudo won his #1 singles match for the Lightning 6-0, 6-3 over Cardinals' Sangay Yoezar, while Richit Magaribi did the same for the hosts in the #2 singles, 6-3, 2-6, 10-6 against Atlenor Molien of York-NY.
Jimmy Evans triumphed in #3 singles for Lehman, 7-6, 6-1 over Abubakar Khamis of York-NY, while the Lightnings'
Jaden Youngs came back to defeat Emperatriz Cesar in #5 singles, 1-6, 6-1, 10-8.
Lehman concludes the regular season on Friday (April 26th) when it hosts Rutgers-Camden, in a non-conference match, at The APEX Tennis Courts with doubles action commencing at 3 pm ET.
