Softball Fall In Twin-Bill To St. Joseph’s-NY

Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College softball team dropped a non-conference doubleheader to visiting St. Joseph's University-NY (12-3, 13-2) on Wednesday at South Field.  The Lightning go to a 4-6 overall record, while the Bears improved to an 11-5 mark.

In the twin-bill opener, Lehman trailed 4-2 early, before St. Joseph's-NY outscored the hosts 8 to 1 for the victory.  Outfielder Lizbeth Perez scored twice for the Lightning, while pitcher Jireh Espina and shortstop Nicolle Swierczek had an RBI each.

In the nightcap, Lehman once again trailed early (3-1), before St. Joseph's-NY went on a 10 to 1 run to complete the doubleheader sweep. Outfielder Yudelis Pena and infielder Patria Sanchez scored the Lightning, while infielder Angelina Perez and teammate Damaris Adames each had an RBI.

Lehman is back in action on Saturday (April 5th) when it visits Hunter College, for a CUNYAC doubleheader, at noon.
