Randall's Island, N.Y. – The Lehman College softball team dropped a CUNYAC doubleheader (10-2, 14-2) to hosts Hunter College on Saturday at Randall's Island Park. The Lightning go to a 4-10 overall record and 0-2 in CUNYAC action, while the Hawks improved to a 7-15 mark and 2-0 in conference play.
Trailing 7-0 in the after three innings in the opener, Lehman got two runs on the board in the top of the fourth. However, Hunter added three more runs for the victory. Shortstop
Patria Sanchez went two-for-two for the Lightning with an RBI, while infielder
Angelina Perez and outfielder Yudelia Pena each scored.
In the nightcap, Lehman jumped out to an early 1-0 lead at the top of the first, however Hunter scored nine times in the bottom of the inning and pulled away for the win. Outfielder
Lizbeth Perez scored and drove in a runner for the Lightning, while Sanchez also crossed home plate and infielder
Jireh Espina had an RBI.
Lehman is back in action on Monday (April 7th) when it travels to Langhorne, Pa. to take on Cairn University in a non-conference twin-bill with first pitch at 2 pm ET.
