Softball Take Two From York-NY In Season Finale

Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College softball team swept a CUNYAC twin-bill (16-1, 15-0) from visiting York College-NY, in the regular season finale, at South Field, on Friday.  The Lightning conclude the season with a 10-20 overall record and 2-8 in conference play, while the Cardinals go to a 3-22 mark and 0-10 in CUNYAC action.

In the opener, York-NY took a surprising 1-0 lead in the top of first inning, before Lehman scored four times in the bottom half of the inning and then added one in the second, seven more in the third and four in the fourth for the victory.  Outfielder Lizbeth Perez led the Lightning offense with a homer, four runs scored and three RBI, while infielder Patria Sanchez added two RBI.  Pitcher Damaris Adames scored twice with an RBI and threw a no-hitter on the mound with eight strikeouts.

In the nightcap, Lehman jumped out to a 4-0 advantage after the first inning and never looked back as it scored 11 more runs, while holding York-NY to a shutout.  Adames scored twice with two RBI for the Lightning, while catcher Elba Gonzalez also drove in two runs, while scoring once. Pitcher Angelina Perez crossed home plate twice and had an RBI, while also throwing a 
three-hitter on the mound with six strikeouts.
