Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College tennis team posted a 6-1 CUNYAC victory against visiting York College-NY at The APEX Courts on Wednesday. The Lightning go to a 1-1 record and 1-0 in conference play, while the Cardinals dropped to a 0-2 overall and CUNYAC mark.
After winning two of the three doubles encounters, Lehman won five of the six singles matches.
The Lightning duo of
Amya Sanchez and
Gabriela Vargas won in the #2-doubles over Cardinals' Max Moncion and Gabriela Pirondi, 6-0, while Lehman pair of
Andres Gil and
Aleski Lebron topped Munab Hasnain and Lawrence Louis of York-NY in #3-doubles, 6-1.
In singles action: #1-
Taishawn Brownlee won for the Lightning, 6-4, 6-2 against Cardinals' Altenor Molien, while #2-Vargas did the same in against Shay Kalill of York-NY, 6-3, 6-2. #3-Sanchez triumphed past Moncion, 6-0, 6-4, while Lehman's
Elizabeth Nlemchukwu was victorious in #4-singles over Hasnain, 7-6 (7-2), 6-1. Lightning's #6-
Jacob Cooper defeated Cardinals' Lawrence Louis, 8-0.
Lehman returns to action next Wednesday (April 1st) when it hosts Hunter College, in a CUNYAC encounter, at The APEX Tennis Courts with doubles action set for 3:30 pm ET.
