Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College softball team dropped an 11-2 decision to visiting SUNY-Delhi in a non-conference match-up at South Field on Wednesday. Following the result, the Lightning go to a 1-11 overall record, while the Broncos improved to 4-10.
The afternoon was originally scheduled as a doubleheader. However, the opening game was ruled a "no contest" after just an inning and a half of play. Injuries to several Lehman players left the team without the minimum nine players required to continue the contest.
In the nightcap, SUNY-Delhi took control early, sprinting to an 11-0 lead by the top of the fourth inning. Lehman found a spark in the bottom of the frame, driving in two runs, but the Broncos held firm to secure the victory.
Lehman's offensive highlights included:
Miley Estrella (2B): 1-for-2 with a run scored.
Leilani Tejada (LF): 1-for-2 with an RBI.
The Lightning returns to South Field tomorrow for a non-conference doubleheader against the College at Old Westbury. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET.
