Melissa Torres has been Head Coach of the Lightning's Softball Program for three complete seasons and has compiled a 26-41 record while leading the Lehman to the CUNYACÂ postseason tournament every year.
After two seasons as a very successful Lehman's Associate Head Coach, Torres took the reigns of the program iin 2019 where Lehman advanced to its ninth consecutive CUNYAC postseason after an 8-4 conference record and an overall mark of 13-20.

While away from Lehman, the Bronx native is the athletic director, Physical Education, and Health teacher at Saint Raymond Academy for girls. She is also a basketball instructor at Spence middle school.

Torres graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas College in 1997, with a degree in Criminal Justice. As an undergraduate she was a member of the Lady Spartan basketball and softball teams.

Torres was a 1,000-point scorer, and earned all-conference, and all tournament selections every season.
In softball, Torres was a 4 time all conference, and all-tournament selection. She was inducted into the 90’s all decade team and is a member of STAC’s 100 hit club. Torres is 2nd all time in career runs scored, career hits, and batting average.
