Mia Marcus joined the women's basketball staff prior to the 2012-13 season.
“Mia knows her basketball and truly understands how the game is played,” said Head Coach Eric Harrison. “Her mix of basketball IQ and playing experience will contribute greatly to the continued growth of our program.”
A graduate of the University of Rhode Island, Marcus was a valuable member of the women's basketball program, starting 51 games in her four-year career. The guard averaged 3.4 points and 2.0 rebounds per game with 113 steals and 132 assists. She earned her degree in 2008 in psychology.
“I am thankful to Coach Harrison for this opportunity,” Marcus said “I want to teach what I have learned from so many good coaches during my career.”
Prior to URI, she was a standout at Saint Michael Academy after transferring from Bishop Laughlin, where she spent her freshman and sophomore years. She averaged 18.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists as a senior, helping Saint Michael Academy to the Manhattan Division title while earning New York Daily News All-City Honorable Mention honors.
