Durval T. Morgan began his tenure as the Head Athletic Trainer in summer of 2014. He is employed by Physicians of Brooklyn and is assigned to Lehman College. In this role, he will oversee daily operations of the Lehman College Sports Medicine program. His duties will include the prevention, immediate care, and rehabilitation for 250 student-athletes in all 18 Lehman College varsity sports programs. He will also coordinate along with David Gonzalez, MD, Team Physician and Director of Sports Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center a newly established Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellows program. The Sports Medicine Fellows program will dedicate two Orthopedic Fellows to cover Lehman College sports programs.
Morgan comes to Lehman College after spending six years as an assistant athletic trainer at Fordham University, an NCAA Division I institution in the Atlantic 10 Conference. He was involved in the prevention, evaluation, and treatment of athletic injuries for several of their A-10 sports programs, including men’s basketball, men’s soccer, baseball, water polo, swimming & diving, and squash.
A 2008 graduate of The University at Buffalo, where he received his Bachelors and Master’s Degrees in Exercise Science with a specialization in athletic training, Morgan is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA), the Eastern Athletic Trainers' Association (EATA) and the New York State Athletic Trainers' Association (NYSATA).
Morgan also serves as a mentor within the Ethnic Diversity Advisory Committee (EDAC) of the NATA, where he currently mentors several up-and-coming athletic trainers. The Brooklyn, N.Y., native is a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) and is also certified in First Aid, AED and CPR.
