Jeff Nerenberg

Nerenberg was recently named head Women's Tennis Coach.

A life-long tennis coach, he has been involved with the sport for over 40 years.  He served as the women's assistant coach of the Lightning from 2015-21.  During the spring of 2021, he also took on the responsibility of co-coach of the men's team.

He has coached at nearly every level, from youngsters through professional.

Most recently, he was the Boys’ Varsity Tennis Head Coach at Keio Academy of New York, for six years. Prior to Keio, he was the Head Coach (Boys’ and Girls’) at Riverdale Country School. In 2010, the boys’ team won the prestigious Ivy Preparatory School League Championship. In addition, the squad competed in the New York City Mayor's Cup Scholastic Team Tournament in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2013.

Collegiately, Nerenberg was the Men's Tennis Head Coach at nearby Manhattan College in Riverdale, from 1982-2001, and still holds the schools record for the most number of wins in school history. Prior to that, he was the boys’ coach at the prestigious Collegiate School, from 1976-1979. He also served as the Director of the Horace Mann Summer School Tennis Program from 1984-2002.

Regarded as the most experienced and successful coach in the entire tri-state area, the USTA named him as a Summer National Coach from 1993-1996. In January of 1993, the United States Professional Tennis Registry (USPTR) selected him as Coach of the Year.

In 1975, Nerenberg founded the JNTA, a private tennis academy, which has included more than 16,000 students since its inception. The Academy participates in all USTA testing programs, and was named by Prince® as one of the top 25 tennis academies in the United States. In 1991, the USTA selected the JNTA as an Officially Sanctioned National Player Development Program. In 2019 Dunlop/Srixon Sports Americas named Coach Nereneberg to the International Professional Team Advisory Staff.

Coach Nerenberg is certified by the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) and is a member of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association of America (ITA), and was named recently to the Prince® Sports Group Elite Team. He was named by PTR as Century Coach as recognition of more than 500 wins at the scholastic and collegiate level.  Jeff holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Queens College and a Master of Arts degree in Physical Education from New York University.
