Elvis Rodriguez joined Lehman College prior to the start of the 2013 men's volleyball season, and will coach both the men's and women's volleyball programs.

With the women's team, he made an immediate impact in 2013, guiding the Lightning to a  21-8 final record, and a spot in the CUNY Athletic Conference Semifinals. For his efforts, he was voted the CUNYAC Coach of the Year by his peers.

In 2014, he led the women's team back to the CUNYAC Semifinals for the second straight year. In 2015, he guided the men's team to its first CUNYAC Semifinals appearance since 2011.

He has been involved in volleyball for over 25 years, both as a coach and a player. No stranger to the CUNY Athletic Conference, Rodriguez cames to Lehman after serving a successful run as an assistant coach with the men’s volleyball team at Hunter College.

“We are thrilled to add Elvis Rodriguez to our staff at Lehman,” said Dr. Martin L. Zwiren, Director of Athletics at Lehman. “He has such knowledge of the game, such a passion for the game. He will certainly take both programs in the right direction.”

A New York City resident, Rodriguez has previous head coaching experience at the college level, guiding the Columbia University men’s club team in 1992 and 1993. He also coached at the high school level, guiding the New York City team in the Men’s Volleyball Scholastic Division at the Empire State Games in 2000.

Since the late 1980’s he has played volleyball, competing in the Empire State Games, the Dominican Republic Professional Volleyball League, the Swiss Professional Volleyball League, the USA Volleyball Men’s Open National Championships, and the National Walleyball Championships.

He maintains active memberships in the US Volleyball Association, the Garden Empire Volleyball Association, AVPNext, Great American Volleyball Association, and the American Walleyball Association.
