The Lehman College women's basketball team (2-5 Overall, 2-0 CUNYAC) dropped a non-conference contest on Wednesday afternoon, falling to the Messiah College Falcons (7-0 Overall, 2-0 MAC) by a score of 70-38 at the I-Zod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The Falcons received contributions from a number of different players in the victory. Michele Schleich led the way for Messiah College by scoring a team-high 13 points to go along with eight rebounds and a pair of assists. Julie Henninger added 12 points, five steals, and four assists, and Dori Gyori netted 11 points, snatched five boards, and tallied two steals. Despite the loss for the Lightning, Lehman College was led by another strong effort from newcomer Dorothy Hunte as she dropped in a game-high 14 points to go along with six rebounds, four blocks, and two steals. Melissa St. Louis also contributed with 11 points, five rebounds, and three steals. The Lightning nailed 34.1 percent of their shots (14-41) and connected on 10 of their 18 attempts from the line. Following the game, Head Coach Eric Harrison gave his thoughts.

“Obviously, it was a tremendous experience for these ladies to be able to play a game in an NBA arena,” Harrison said. “Unfortunately, we came out on the losing side in the game. We have things that we need to improve on, and we'll do our best to tighten some things up and get ready for SUNY Old Westbury on Saturday.”

The Lightning will return to action as Lehman College will battle SUNY Old Westbury on Saturday afternoon at the APEX Center as part of the second annual CUNYAC Coaches vs. Cancer Classic at Lehman. Game-time is scheduled for 1:00pm.
